I can cook too!

I figure everyone knows that I can eat, but I can cook too! It helps me relax after work.

Here is a simple slow roasted Pork Belly, only15 minutes of prep, easy peasy!

Can't have roasted pork without some homemade gravy!

Here's the finished product (I seperated the crispy crackling, you don't want it soggy!)

Of course for you vegetarian scum....errrr.... I mean people of the dirt! :-)

A lovely mushroom Risotto...Yum!
I've very annoyed....I can't seem to make this pic bigger!

<Burp>...I'm full

Today's Lunch BBQ!

It's Friday, and it is normally the only day I will go out to lunch.

My coworkers (six of us) and I decided to indulge in an unhealthy lunch today, so is there anywhere better than Memphis Blues?

It's only a block away from my office.

The Elvis Platter....

Beef Brisket, Ribs, Rib ends, Pulled pork, Cornish Game hen, Smoked sausage, Fries, Baked beans, Potato salad, Coleslaw, and Cornbread!

We also ordered a side of Fried Catfish, just to ensure we had included all the main food groups.

Here's the aftermath...

I blame this guy!

p.s. Check out the awesome shirt!

Jewel in the rough.

These days we try to take the New Port Mann bridge as little as possible ($1.12 is cheap, but does add up) and search for places across the horrid (but free), Patullo bridge.

A few months ago Debbie discovered a tasty Malaysian restaurant in of all places, New West!

It's called the Tamarind Hill on 6th Ave (just for future personal reference meter parking in New West ends at 6pm not 10pm, Doh!).

http://tamarindhill.ca/home

We start out with the Roti Canai, which is pretty good, and easily the best deal for we've seen (You get eight large slices with sauce) for only $6, and some tasty Satay (five pieces for $6)

Of course I forget to take a photo...Double Doh!

We've been here a couple of times, and we always go back for the Haianese Chicken $15. It's completely boneless, served warm, with plently for sweet soy, ginger onion oil, and spicy sauce. Delish!

People who know me, know that I hate ice cold chicken... I just don't get it. Why people like it served ice cold with the jellied fat, cold skin, and flavourless meat I'll never understand...<cringe>.  But when served warm it is a frick'n epiphany!

OK rant over.

We also order the Spicy fried pork chops, which were equal to any good Chinese restaurant, so its safe to order (though a little pricey at $15).

I also recommend the ginger soy Sablefish that I had at a previous meal (not pictured, but will order again next time). All main dishes are served with choice of flavoured rice.

We love this place

It's Western and Chinese friendly, so don't be afraid to venture out here.

Until the next meal!

It's my first post! Aren't we excited!?

No?

Well too bad.

Due to some traffic issues, Debbie and I ended up taking a detour to Granville Island. After finding free parking (woohoo!!) we plopped down for lunch at Edible Canada, great little restaurant right next to the market.

I had the insanely fattening Duck Confit Poutine, which also comes with two sunny side up eggs! Did I also mention that the fries are cooked in Duck fat?

My heart was angry with me that afternoon.

Debbie had the more reasonable Ling Cod Fish & Chips, the fish was very light and flaky, I rarely ever get Ling Cod, should try it more often.

So long, until the next meal!
